Un acteur américain. Sa carrière a commencé par une performance bien accueillie dans King of the Gypsies (1978), pour laquelle il a remporté sa première nomination aux Golden Globe Awards. Sa deuxième nomination aux Golden Globe est venue pour son interprétation de Paul Snider dans Star 80 (1983), suivie des nominations aux Globe et aux Oscars pour son rôle de soutien dans Runaway Train (1985).
