Elena
Peyton est une auteure à succès rendue célèbre par un livre où elle raconte son agoraphobie. Elena est mariée à un pasteur et élève avec ce dernier son fils de 15 ans. Toutes les deux souhaitent avoir un enfant. Elles se rencontrent dans une agence d’adoption et commencent à sympathiser. Ayant besoin d’un photographe pour son nouveau projet, Peyton demande à Elena qui a exercé cette profession il y a plusieurs années de travailler avec elle.
