Considéré comme l’un des cinéastes italiens les plus prolifiques, avec quelques 200 réalisations dans sa filmographie, Joe D’Amato est un personnage contesté, « maître de l’horreur » guidé par l’envie d’expérimenter. Parmi ses films les plus connus, on retrouve la série Emanuelle ou encore les films Antropophagus et Blue Holocaust.
