Documentaire qui retrace la carrière cinématographique du cinéaste Aristide Massaccesi dit Joe D’Amato. Considéré comme l’un des cinéastes italiens les plus prolifiques, avec quelques 200 réalisations dans sa filmographie, Joe D’Amato est un personnage contesté, « maître de l’horreur » guidé par l’envie d’expérimenter. Parmi ses films les plus connus, on retrouve la série Emanuelle ou encore les films Antropophagus et Blue Holocaust.
